As confirmed by ICC, Lahore is all set to host World XI for 3 T20’s in September this year. The 3 matches will be granted international status and will be played at Gadaffi Stadium.

The ICC (International Cricket Council) showed support for PCB’s proposal of hosting world XI in their recent meeting in London earlier this month. The officials declared World XI plans under development.

The Sarfraz Ahmed captained, Pakistan side defeated arch-rivals India in the final of ICC Champions Trophy 2017. The win will surely have boosted confidence in players, who will look forward to a great play in a great atmosphere against great players in front of a great Lahori Crowd.

“I hope this win will boost Pakistan Cricket and all the Major playing nations will come to Pakistan”, said Sarfraz in an interview.

“We’re scheduled to have a World XI in Pakistan in September for 3 Twenty20 games. SO hopefully that starts paving the way for future tours. We can only hope” said Mickey Arthur.

What’s Next?
Depending on the improving security conditions, and a successful PSL final, and hopefully a successful World XI tour, Sri Lanka’s cricket team is also expecting to play 3 Tests, 3 ODI’s, and 2 T20’s in Pakistan. PSL 2018 will also host 8 games in Pakistan 4 in Lahore and 4 in Karachi, with the rest of the tournament played in UAE. The World XI committee has confirmed top players from top teams will be sent to play the 3 games in Lahore, from teams such as Australia, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and England.
