Test series to be played as scheduled, announces New Zealand Cricket Board

GEO News: The New Zealand Cricket board has announced that the first test between Pakistan and New Zealand will commence on Thursday as scheduled in Christchurch.

The announcement from NZC, a day after the powerful earthquake in parts of New Zealand, added that the third ODI between women teams of Pakistan and New Zealand will be played as scheduled in Nelson.
Following the earthquake in New Zealand, there were reports that the venue of first test may be shifted from Christchurch, but NZC - after evaluating safety measures - announced that the match will be played as planned.
"Advice from Christchurch, venue for the first Test between the BLACKCAPS and Pakistan, and Nelson, where the WHITE FERNS will play Pakistan women, is more positive - with both matches to start on Thursday as scheduled," said the statement released by NZC on Tuesday.
Players of Pakistan team were in their hotel when New Zealand was jolted by a powerful earthquake measuring 7.4, and they were evacuated from their rooms.
"It was horrible, we were getting ready to sleep when it happened, we immediately evacuated our rooms and moved to open space," said a player of Pakistan Cricket team after the tremor.
The Pakistan Cricket Board had earlier said that it was in contact with the management of both men's and women's teams and adequate measures were already being taken for safety of players.
