Wahab Riaz ruled out of Champions Trophy due to ankle injury

BIRMINGHAM: Pakistan’s left-hand pacer, Wahab Riaz has been ruled out of Pakistan’s remaining matches of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 after suffering through some internal injuries following his right ankle twisting in the first ODI.

“A scan has confirmed that Wahab Riaz suffered a deltoid ligament complex after an eversion injury mechanism whilst bowling during the India vs Pakistan match on June 4th”, said PCB.

“It will take minimum 2 weeks to recover from this injury. Wahab will not be able to continue to play in remaining games of the Champions Trophy”, they also added.

Reliable sources have been spreading news preferring Rumann Raees or Mohammad Abbas as a possible replacement for Wahab Riaz.

This news has put the nation into delight even though it’s not a good news. |Riaz has been extremely costly in his past few games. Wahab gave away 80 runs in 50.7 balls against India on June 4th.

Pakistan must beat South Africa in their next Group B match on Wednesday. They must also beat Sri Lanka on the 17th to regain their chances of qualifying for semi-finals. An addition to what I’ve just mentioned above is: If Pakistan manages to beat South Africa and Sri Lanka, they will move to 6th position in ICC ODI Rankings and will have a very high chance of direct qualification for ICC World Cup 2019.
