Babar Azam climbs to No. 1 spot in the ICC T20 Rankings

Pakistan’s batting star stormed his way to the No. 1 spot in the ICC T20 rankings. Pakistan  Team also replaced New Zealand at the No. 1 spot in the ICC T20 rankings. The no. 1 spot resulted from a 2-1 win over New Zealand, and 109 runs in 3 T20’s scored by Azam.


Babar is only the second batsman to have topped the ICC T20 rankings. Misbah ul haq was the first who did it back in 2009. Collin Munro who started the series as NO. 1 slipped to no. 4. (via crictracker)

In his first match, Babar scored 41 off 41 deliveries. He played an even better inning of 50 from 29 deliveries in the next T20 and remained not-out.  In the third and final T20, he managed to score only 18 from 17 deliveries, making him the No. 1 T20 ranked batsman.


Pakistan lost the first match in the three-match series but came back with a bang in the next two winning both and taking the series 2-1. After the historic series win, Pakistan climbed to the No. 1 spot in the ICC T20 rankings.
